What motivates you?

I was cleaning up my computer and forgot I had made this last week:

I saw this on Pop Candy and thought you, too, might want to make your own motivational poster.

Let’s go fly a kite!

I’ve actually been back for 3 days, but I’m just now getting around to remember I went on vacation last week.

I wish I was still at the beach.

It was a short vacation, only a few days but it was fun.

Jason and I took Mumsy down to the beach house in Delaware to visit with the in-laws and the grand-in-laws. And despite all of our horrible traffic expectations, it worked out well for us. For us, anyway. We always seemed to be driving in the right direction heading south and back.

There was a crabfeast. It was gross. I was having visions similar to Lisa Simpson’s (”Lisa, why are you eating me????”) so I only got through one crab. After that, I would only eat the meat if someone else picked it for me. Hypocritical, I know. But I just can’t get over that whole rip off the legs, tear off the shell, strip off the lungs thing. Ew. Can’t I just eat my crab stuffed with cheese into a mushroom cap like it was meant to be eaten???

We ventured into Ocean City to stroll the boardwalk and get some good people-watching in. We marvelled at kites and tried to avoid the gulls. It was all good.

Someone decided it would be alot of fun to set off a good fireworks display. At 3 in the morning. Both nights we were there. yea.

We attempted to learn some weird dominoes game. I don’t think we did it right. Because once we figured out blank dominoes make them wild, we never got past the first round. That’s what happens when you let a math geek loose on a pattern game.

The best time to hit the outlet stores in Rehobeth Beach is Sunday morning at 9 am. In case you were wondering. Jason is now rocking in his new hip shoes that I gave him for his birthday.

I did not burn … much. I’m actually quite tan, although you would never know it by looking at me. But believe me, I am tan.

Next year, I’m going to schedule more time for the beach.

The post that almost wasn’t

Sorry I’ve been kind of absent. Life is busy, I’ve been choosing sleep over internet time. There were a few things that I was like, “oh I should blog about this …” and then I didn’t.

- Like the one I was going to write about about how much rain sucks and Wegmans rocks. That was when I pulled up to the the pedestrian strip to let this guy cross the parking lot in the rain, and he tried to get in my car! Fortunately, it was locked and I sped off before he could. When I finally parked and looked back to see if he was still there, he was getting into another red Subaru Forester, so I realized it was just mistaken identity. So then when I was done in Wegmans, a fabulous Wegmans boy was waiting outside to walk customers to their their cars under umbrellas in the soaking rain. And THAT is why Wegmans will always rock against all other grocery stores (that, and they have the best selection and the freshest produce).

- Then I was going to mention that our redneck neighbors moved out - yea! And new ones moved in. With their plethora of children and cats. Seriously, our street has turned into kid central - there are kids in swim suits running amok and screaming at the top of their lungs. Fortunately, I’m not home enough to care … much. It’s a little tough to take in the evening hours when I’m trying to maneuver my car through them to get in my driveway. And at night, the cats come out. And there must be a war going on between the old king and the incoming one. Because there are cat fights all the time now. They’d be there before, but only for a minute and it would stop. Now, it’s every night and lasts for at least 15 minutes at a time. Kelsey doesn’t bark at much, but he will at every cat fight he hears. Guess how much sleep Jason and I are getting???

- Then there’s the one about how I went to quartet rehearsal, left Jason with instructions to clean the carpet and came home to find no carpet. But that’s Jason’s story.

- I think I’m going to create a ringtone for the best song phrase of the summer: “Come on now, who do you? who do you, who do you, who do you think you are? HA HA HA, bless your soul.” Any takers for who this ring should be assigned to?

Whong homecoming

Chris is home! Yea! There’s a photo gallery!

The wait was long but well worth it. Chris’s bus trip to Baltimore from Indianapolis completely trumps my trip home from Columbus so I hope he’ll blog about it. He was supposed to roll in at 10, got in 5 hours later.

Fortunately, the weather was perfect and everyone was in very good spirits. The families eagerly waited the return of their loved ones at the Armory in Baltimore. While we waited and waited, and even smiled for most of the wait, we mingled with the crowd. Wherever we went, “it’s a Whong” was heard from random people. Everyone knew Jason and Eugene. Some people even knew me, which was so bizarre.

Then there was Karen Sauer, who immediately recognized me as being from Baldwinsville, New York. Because she’s from B’ville too. Graduated class of ‘76. I was so impressed, I got my photo with her because who knew there’d be a B’ville alumni reunion at the Armory in Baltmore waiting for our boys to come home from war?

It was a very good day yesterday. :)
